Austin’s advantages include proximity to the Texas Medical Center network, a growing elderly population driving demand, and comparatively lighter regulatory friction than coastal hubs.
Dallas: hospital-system-anchored
Dallas’s healthcare startup scene is built around three major hospital systems — UT Southwestern, Baylor Scott & White, and Texas Health Resources — which generate clinical partnerships and pilot customers for early-stage companies. Active investors include Baylor Scott & White Health Ventures, Heritage Group, Perot Jain, Wildcat Venture Partners, Health Wildcatters in Deep Ellum, and Cigna Ventures.
