In addition to her work at Microsoft, Krysta has been named to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Information Science and Technology (ISAT) Study Group for a three-year term. The group brings 30 of the brightest scientists and engineers together to identify new areas of development in computer and communication technologies and to recommend future research directions. The Department of Energy has also appointed her to the Advanced Scientific computing Advisory Committee for a three-year term. Krysta is also slated to teach an upcoming course on quantum computing at the University of Washington. Krysta received her Ph.D. in Computer Science with highest distinction from Columbia University in 2006 and is a Kavli Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences. She serves on non-profit boards for education of young women, mentors young women, and speaks around the world about the importance of diversity, young women’s self-esteem, and the critical redesign of what the technology workforce looks like today and should look like tomorrow. She hopes to inspire young women around the world, to show them that technology is a field for everyone, and that they will be the ones to unlock technologies that will be ground-breaking and transformative. Krysta lives in Seattle, WA where she is raising her 8-month-old daughter, Daisy.
