Tom Gores
Founder and CEO of Platinum Equity
Tom Gores founded Platinum Equity in 1995 and his guidance, core philosophies, and strong principles drive the strategic development and direction of both the firm and its portfolio.Early in his career, Tom Gores was an active investor in smaller businesses, where companies often trade principally on their good word and ability to follow through on what they promise. Here he developed his principles of empowerment, hard work, and integrity. As Tom Gores delivered on commitments made to deal partners, investment bankers, and lenders, Tom Gores’s ability to continually execute larger transactions grew exponentially and made Platinum Equity one of the premiere private equity firms in the world, recognized as one of Forbes’s “Largest Private Companies” within just 4 years of being founded. Believing that a team of outstanding people could meet almost any challenge,Tom Gores began selecting the best and brightest he came in contact with to join him. The result is the Partners and Principals who lead Platinum Equity today. Strong relationships, trust in people, and open communication remain key to Tom Gores and Platinum Equity’s momentum. When it comes to his business, Tom Gores applies philosophies of swift and thorough diligence, sound acquisitions, effective management, and driving value through honest, intelligent operational improvement rather than financial engineering. M&A&O®, his pioneering vision of combining traditional M&A with operational insight, was the direct result of the combination of these philosophies. Top business publications have recognized Platinum Equity as one of the most important private companies in America, most recently ranking 25th on the 2013 Forbes list of America’s Largest Private Companies and #5 on the 2013 Los Angeles Business Journal list of LA’s Largest Private Equity Companies. Mr. Gores appears on both the Forbes list of the World’s Billionaires as well as the Forbes list of Richest Americans, and is among the youngest individuals ever to appear on either. Tom Gores was born in 1964 and resides primarily in Beverly Hills with his wife and children. When not serving in his role as Chairman and CEO of Platinum Equity, Tom Gores is on either a soccer field or a basketball court coaching youth teams, applying the same principles of hard work and inspiration that Tom Gores does to his business. Robert Thompson
Chief Executive Officer of Angevin & Co.
Robert Thompson, Founder and CEO of Punch Bowl Social, was raised in Mississippi and Colorado, surrounded by the southern hospitality that now permeates his award-winning “eatertainment” concept where elevated, scratch-made diner eats and crafted cocktails combine with old school games and Dirty-Modern décor to create an unusually dynamic, social, authentic experience. In 1997 at age 25, Thompson began his career as a restaurateur in Nashville where he blended his passions for restaurants, real estate and design. Seeing an opportunity, Robert signed an ambitious 22,000 Sft. lease on prime real estate next to the honky-tonks and new commercial realities of downtown Nashville. Thompson wrote a business plan, opened a highly successful business and was forever hooked as a restaurateur. Before developing his “crown jewel,” Punch Bowl Social, Robert opened eight other restaurant concepts, earned dozens of awards – including four Best New Restaurant honors in Denver and Nashville. Each of those experiences helped him perfect his vision of combining high-integrity food with social bar experiences in a way that had not been seen before Punch Bowl Social. Thompson opened the first Punch Bowl Social on South Broadway in Denver in 2012. From its beginnings as a single restaurant and bar, the innovative Punch Bowl Social concept immediately established a profound connection with guests who embraced the upscale diner-inspired menu, vintage games and fun, fresh bar offerings. Interior design creativity is cornerstone of the Punch Bowl Social brand and is evident through the Victorian furnishings, Colorado mountain lodge warmth, industrial spaces, modern appointments and dozens of other eye-catching design elements that make Punch Bowl Social so special. The concept was so popular that developers in other states took notice and began courting Thompson to open Punch Bowl Social locations outside of Colorado. Since 2012, Thompson has opened Punch Bowl Social locations in Austin, TX, Portland, OR and Detroit, MI, will put locations in Cleveland, OH and Chicago, IL in 2015, and in Denver’s Stapleton community in early 2016. Given the freedom to dream up the best in innovative eats, drinks, service, ambiance and architecture, Robert Thompson has found great success in developing restaurants that guests wholeheartedly embrace. When Robert is not working, Thompson loves distance running the Colorado high-country and spends every spare moment in the company of his wife and young son.

Curtis Simmons
Founder & CEO of Spectrum
Curtis Simmons Founded NWO Art Gallery in 2012. The NWO Art Gallery was built on one principle, making art the fundamental building block of everyday life. We believe wholeheartedly in the advancement of creativity. Together with our artists, we aim to expand upon the traditional gallery format. About two years ago I had an idea for a mobile art application called Spectrum. I secured 1.5 million funding needed for development and I’ve built a skeleton marketing campaign prior to the apps release on the Apple store. I’ve acquired 5,000 email addresses of leading artists as collateral against zero downloads at launch. I’ve done the research, surveyed the market, ran real life experiments, and all results are reading that Spectrum is scalable.
