Since joining Smart City in 2000 as the Vice President of Technology, David Langford has developed the voice and data network infrastructure for Smart City’s convention centers and the proprietary Smart City Network Operations Center, which monitors the network performance at Smart City’s facilities. He launched his career as a leader in the National Science Foundation’s Advanced Network & Services project, deploying the first national pre-Internet high speed IP infrastructure. This experience grew to include: developing the sales engineering division at AOL, the installation of temporary data network capabilities for the events of FORTUNE 500 companies (often where none existed previously), and the development and implementation of the country’s first permanent wireless installation for conventions. Langford’s most recent contributions include developing Smart City’s High Density Wireless networks for stadiums and convention centers, and developing a Neutral Host Distributed Antenna System (NHDAS) practice. He has also led teams in designing next generation networks for facilities such as the Washington State Convention Center, the Anaheim Convention Center, and NHDAS in Charlotte, Phoenix, and Santa Clara. As an active member in the industry, he participates in numerous industry associations including the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE), American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), Meeting Professionals International (MPI), Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA). He holds a BS degree in Communication Systems Management from Ohio University.
