Before joining Three Arch Partners, Mike was an operating executive at Blue Shield of California. At the time, Blue Shield was a $3 billion health insurer offering HMO, PPO and ASO products. Mike had a variety of roles over time at Blue Shield, including Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategic Planning, Regional Chief Executive for Northern California, and Vice President of Business Transformation. Earlier in his career, Mike was a Senior Manager in consulting for APM Incorporated/CSC Healthcare and a Financial Analyst at Kidder, Peabody & Co. Incorporated. Mike received a BS in Business Administration with High Honors from Washington University in St. Louis and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar. Bo Yaghmaie

Babak (Bo) Yaghmaie is a partner in the Cooley Business department and a member of the Emerging Companies and Venture Capital practice groups. He joined the firm in 2009 and is resident in the New York and Palo Alto offices. Yaghmaie is the head of the New York Business Technology Group. His practice entails the representation of private and publicly-held emerging growth high technology and life science companies, leading investment banks and venture capital funds, with a particular focus on private placements and venture financings, public offerings of equity securities, and mergers and acquisitions. Yaghmaie has been involved in many of the leading corporate and financing technology transactions in the New York area, including the representation of Union Square Ventures in connection with the formation and financing of Twitter. He regularly represents a broad range of startups, venture-backed companies and venture capital funds. He serves as a TechStars Mentor and as an ER Accelerator Mentor. Yaghmaie is also a member of the Entrepreneurial Sounding Board at Columbia University’s Eugene Lang Entrepreneurship Center. Yaghmaie has represented both issuers and underwriters in dozens of public offerings by venture-backed issuers across a variety of industries. He has also served as counsel to many leading investment banks, including Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Friedman Billings Ramsey, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Cowen & Company and Stifel Nicolaus. Yaghmaie has been recognized by Chambers USA as one of “America’s Leading Lawyers,” and was recognized by AlwaysOn in 2012 and 2013 as a “New York City Power Player” for helping entrepreneurs who bring technology breakthroughs to the world of digital media. He played an integral role in the 2012 launch of the Digital Media Center in New York which serves to provide a networking platform for emerging companies and members of the digital media ecosystem. He has also been named among the Top 100 IPO Lawyers in the United States. Yaghmaie is one of the authors of the widely used book, Venture Capital & Public Offering Negotiation, published by Aspen Law & Business. He is also a senior contributing editor of VC Experts’ Venture Capital Encyclopedia, and has authored chapters in the Securities Filings volume entitled, “Compliance with the Securities Act in the Acquisition Context” and in the Venture Capital: Nuts and Bolts volume entitled, “Venture-backed Company Structures 101: Basic Issues to Consider.” Yaghmaie is a faculty member of the Practicing Law Institute. His topics of instruction include venture capital, securities laws, and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Cooley, Yaghmaie headed the New York Corporate & Securities Technology group and Venture Capital practice at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman. Prior to that, he was a co-founding partner of the New York office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.
