Global warming and climate change are significant and common and also the most neglected issues of our planet.

Global warming has not started recently and is suddenly breaking all records. It has been there for years, and we know as living beings, we cannot fully omit the global warming process.

But that doesn’t mean we can be irresponsible enough to ignore such a climate-changing issue. In the last 40 years, the global warming rate has increased drastically, and this is the most emerging concern for your planet.

We all know that due to carbon emissions, global warming happens. Carbon emission is related to the fueling of oils, coals, gas, et cetera. Our industries are continuously increasing the rate of fueling to get more success in the market.

We are also using fuel to ensure our fast and effective lifestyle. If our industries continue to do that, the GHG (greenhouse gasses) emissions will increase by another 50% by 2050.

What Is The Carbon Footprint?

Before we start analyzing which industries and activities are more responsible for carbon footprint, we need to understand what carbon footprint is! Carbon footprint indicates the entire quantity of greenhouse gasses produced either directly or indirectly.

The measurement of carbon footprint is done by considering the tons of carbon dioxide produced on our planet. Repost says that the carbon dioxide emission rose to 6% in 2021, which is the highest ever level of global energy-related CO2.

Calculating carbon footprint is not an easy task, and it includes various properties like waste production & treatment, transportation in miles, energy usage, production, and supply chain-related sources, et cetera.

Industries Responsible For Highest Carbon Footprint

The greenhouse gasses that cause high levels of carbon footprint can be from various industrial activities. Fossil fuels are a required source of energy that many industries use to incorporate their daily operations and productions.

This article will dig into the industries and their activities that are causing the highest carbon footprint in our society.

1. Transportation

The transportation sector is hitting the deck with its greenhouse gas emission activities. We all are using some kind of transportation, and all of those are keeping carbon footprints.

Do you know that over 90% of transportation vehicles use petroleum as fuel which also includes gasoline and diesel as well? The cars, ships, trains, and planes that we have personally or we use for our public transportation purposes are all keeping a carbon footprint and increasing global warming.

2. Industry

The industries are working with the production of raw materials and other services like supply chain management. Within an industry, you will be able to understand that there is a high chance of carbon emission.

For instance, industries need energy, and they consider burning fuels to produce energy. Moreover, they also consider chemical reactions to produce goods from raw materials, and that is also related to greenhouse gas emissions.

3. Electricity Production

This area is mostly affecting the planet with global warming as it has the highest rate of carbon footprint so far. We have our natural resources, and we are using them to produce the required electricity for your society.

Approximately 60% of our total electricity comes from fueling coals and natural gasses. Now guess what! We are getting affected in two ways!

●       We are losing our natural resources.

●       We are increasing our carbon footprint by considering more greenhouse gas emissions.

4. Agriculture

Now coming to agriculture, you might be surprised, but it is true that this industry also has few activities that consider greenhouse gas emissions.

For instance, enteric fermentation, where ruminants like cattle produce methane with their normal digestive process. On the other hand, the management contributes to various practices on the soil to understand its effectiveness.

This particular soil testing process, such as urea application, can increase carbon dioxide emissions. Now we know that this industry is also developed, and we are getting into a carbon footprint again.

5. Commercial And Residential

Residential and commercial activities are also impacting the global warming process. The activities that this sector took are increasing the carbon footprint.

The waste management process is involved with both commercial and residential purposes. In terms of waste management, they use fuels, and that increases carbon emissions in the air.

Apart from that, so many people have no idea about products that contain greenhouse gasses, and they burn them for waste management and to produce heat.

After the discussion of these activities, we can understand that all are directly or indirectly responsible for carbon emissions. Among all the activities, the industries, including electricity and transportation, are rapidly increasing the carbon footprint on our planet, which needs to have some solution.

To Conclude

We are living in a world full of chaos and uncertainty as well as development purposes. We have a chance to mitigate the issues that are causing a heavy carbon footprint. For instance, we might consider electric vehicles instead of fueled vehicles, but that will not be the end because electricity is also sourced from fuels.

Then!

What about a minimal carbon footprint! What about not using unnecessary vehicles and instead using cycles! We know it is not possible to always travel any distance, but that is the concern of your scientists to create something amazing other than fueling.
