After holding a variety of positions in the marketing, revenues and public affairs organizations for Southwestern Bell and in investor relations for SBC, he became director-Federal Regulatory for SBC in Washington, D.C. In 1994, Mr. Blase was appointed executive director-Regulatory Matters for Southwestern Bell in Kansas and returned to St. Louis two years later as managing director-Regulatory and External Affairs for SBC. He became President-Kansas for Southwestern Bell in 1997.
