April 21, 2022

Newsome’s Tax & Accounting is your one stop shop for all your tax and accounting needs. We do yearly training to maintain that all of our preparers are certified and ready for anything you bring to us. Our goal is to make sure our clients are knowledgable and get the best option for them. We’ve been in business since 1996 and will be around for many years to come. Patty Hoell, our CEO and Founder, is not just one of the best accountants, she is also an Enrolled Agent and Tax Planner. Meaning she can help you with any IRS issues you may have while also setting you up with a tax plan that can reduce your tax liabilty and save you thousands every year.

Tell us about yourself?

I have been doing taxes for over 10 years and also handle our marketing. We are a family company which you can see from our directory and we treat our clients as such. I got into this work being born into it. Patty is my mom and I have been doing minor bookkeeping and accounting work for her since I was about 12. I started by filing and data procesing. I started doing taxes when I was 18 and moved into maketing around 20 or 21. I have always been creative and have learned more about social media marketing and adobe products through additional courses along with trial and error.

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Plan ahead. Prepare material before you need it, not when you need it.

What problem does your business solve?

Any tax or accounting related problems. We get you in compliance and help resolve tax issues with the IRS.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

We are here to help individuals with their taxes, especially in this current time when we all need the money we earn to deal with the financial troubles we are facing. Taxes aren’t getting simpler despite what Congress is claiming to do. We don’t want people to get blindsighted with fees by missing by missing an interest from a 1099-INT or putting an 1099-NEC on the wrong form.

What is your magic sauce?

We are here year round. We’re not a pop-up you only see from January to April and we don’t charge you to get a copy of your return. If you need help in May or December, we are here. If you have questions about changes to tax law, we are here.

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

Our goal is to continue growing our durrent locations and expand to Florida. We’d also like to grow our online services to be easier for our clients.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

The biggest challenges have come from the IRS due to COVID-19. When we are trying to help a client resolve a tax issue or get answers from the IRS, we are sitting on hold for hours waiting to talk to a representative and that’s hoping that we don’t get disconnected because there are too many people calling.

How do people get involved/buy into your vision?

We’d love to be able to work with local business in our locations to offer special services to our clients. For example if a local car wash would like to work with us by offering our tax clients a discounted wash. We see hundreds of people each year and since we are a local business, we want to help local businesses. We can help them with their books and we can send to customers to them. If you are near one of our office in Acworth, GA or Phenix City, AL, please email Tawny at [email protected]. We’d love to help you grow your business!
