Ernest Marshall is vice president, Human Resources at GE Aviation, one of the fastest-growing divisions of the General Electric Company. He provides strategic direction for over 40,000 employees located at 82 sites around the globe. As a global HR strategist, Ernest has extensive experience in organizational development, employee engagement, talent assessment, cultural integration, executive compensation, global practices and labor relations, in rapidly changing, highly competitive growth environments. Ernest’s experience is multi-faceted. In July, 1992, he took a position as an assistant English teacher in Shizuoka, Japan, where he taught at two Japanese high schools before returning to the United States a year later, to pursue his graduate education. He joined GE in 1997 on the Human Resources Leadership Program (HRLP) at GE Capital Consumer Finance, in Cincinnati, OH. Following his first business rotation on the HRLP program, Ernest joined GE’s Corporate Audit Staff (CAS) as an auditor. Most recently, prior to being promoted to his current position, Ernest helped successfully transform the Aviation Systems business, a strategic business acquisition, by developing an HR infrastructure geared towards building a successful business and culture. He leads GE Aviation’s GE Volunteers organization and also serves as the Operating Leader of GE’s African American Forum (AAF). Ernest was selected by Black MBA magazine in their ’50 under 50′ feature and by Network Journal in their ‘Top 40 under 40’ feature. Lieutenant General Robert (Bob) Lennox is senior vice president of Strategy and Customer Engagement at General Dynamics Mission Systems. In this role, he is responsible for the company’s overall strategic planning, marketing, public affairs, corporate relations and customer engagement. LTG Lennox first joined General Dynamics in 2014 as vice president of Ground Systems. In this role, he supported both the Mission Systems and Land Systems business units at General Dynamics. LTG Lennox retired from the U.S. Army in March 2014 after thirty seven years of service. Before his retirement from military service, LTG Lennox served as the Principal Deputy Director of Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation for the Office of the Secretary of Defense. In this position, he conducted evaluations of defense programs and made budgetary recommendations to senior Defense Department Leaders. He held this position from May 2012 until March 2014. LTG Lennox graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1977, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. He also holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Stanford University, and a Masters in National Security and Strategic Studies from the National Defense University. His education also includes multiple U.S. Army and Joint Training Courses. LTG Lennox served at every level and commanded every echelon of the Air Defense Artillery from platoon leader to Commanding General of Fort Bliss, TX. It was in this last position that he also served as the Commandant of the Air Defense Artillery School. Away from troops, he served as: an Assistant Professor at the Department of Social Science, U.S. Military Academy at West Point; Deputy Commanding General at the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command; and Deputy Commanding General at the U.S. Army Accessions Command. LTG Lennox’s assignments have included locations throughout the United States, Germany and the Middle East. His last six years were in the Pentagon where he served as the Deputy Operations Officer of the Army Staff, the Chief of the Army’s Quadrennial Defense Review (a strategy/Policy) team, and as the Army G8. In this last position, he was responsible for the Modernization and Equipping of the U.S. Army, and the development of the Army’s five year budget plan. This led to his final uniformed assignment working for the Secretary of Defense in OSD-CAPE. LTG Lennox has received multiple awards and decorations including the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, and the Distinguished Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. Carlo Zaffanella is vice president and general manager of Maritime and Strategic Systems (M&SS) for General Dynamics Mission Systems. In this role, he leads a diverse array of programs serving the US Navy, the US Air Force, restricted customers, TSA, various government labs and a variety of international and commercial customers. The M&SS business includes submarine and surface ship electronic systems integration as well as the design, build and support of a broad array of subsurface, surface, air, airport and strategic subsystems. The business has substantial focus on open architecture computing, system integration, unmanned maritime vehicles, RF sensor processing, secure computing, and integrated software solutions for various platforms. The M&SS business employs over 2,000 professionals across multiple locations, including Pittsfield, MA, Bloomington, MN, Greensboro, NC, Fairfax, VA, Mobile, AL and a number of others. Prior to his current role, he was vice president and general manager for the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) division of General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems. He was responsible for management and execution of programs for Intelligence Community customers, including intelligence collection sensor design, development and operation, space payloads, and geospatial intelligence programs. The business supports the DoD, the intelligence community, commercial satellite primes, and international customers. Previously, Mr. Zaffanella served as the vice president and general manager for the Integrated Platform Solutions (IPS) line of business within the Mission Integration Systems division. The IPS business applies state-of-the-art open architecture computing technologies to provide the U.S. Navy and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) with critical mission solutions. From complete surface ship electronic suites to aircraft mission computers and nationwide TSA information networks, IPS combines technologies and products from across industry into streamlined, integrated, cost effective systems. IPS also designs and manufactures high performance, ruggedized, open computing products for the Navy, NASA and other customers. Prior to this position, Mr. Zaffanella was director of the Core Mission Integration business area. Core Mission Integration develops, produces, engineers and integrates highly reliable, open architecture solutions for mission systems, including the ship systems integration for the Navy’s Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship and the Joint High Speed Vessel programs. Prior to his current role, he was vice president of operations for General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems. He led the engineering, manufacturing, mission assurance and supply chain organizations, and was responsible for the strategy, direction, planning and execution that enabled the delivery of end-to-end mission systems integration, development and operations support to our customers. Effective January 1, 2015, General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems combined with General Dynamics C4 Systems to form General Dynamics Mission Systems. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Stockdale was the vice president of the Integrated Tactical Solutions (ITS) Line of Business in the Mission Integration Systems division of General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems. He joined General Dynamics in 1998 when the Advanced Technology Systems division of Lucent Technologies was acquired by General Dynamics. Mr. Stockdale served as program manager for several key U.S. Navy programs and earned increased operational responsibility as senior program manager for the Mission and Battle Management unit. Previously, Mr. Stockdale served more than 20 years with Lucent and its predecessor, AT&T Bell Laboratories. He began his career in software engineering before becoming a program manager. In 1995, he managed a project that received the company’s President’s Quality Award. Mr. Stockdale holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Fordham University and a master’s degree in computer science from Stevens Institute of Technology. In 2000, he completed the executive development program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. Scotty Miller is vice president of Supply Chain Management for General Dynamics Mission Systems and directs procurement activities for all companies within the General Dynamics Information Systems and Technology business group. Miller’s Supply Chain team is responsible for the subcontract management and procurement of all materials, services and support across the company. Miller has developed supply chain management in concert with the business to be a strategic advantage for General Dynamics. Miller and his team lead the negotiation of contracts with suppliers and strategic partners ensuring that our customers receive products on time while meeting all technical and quality requirements. Miller has an established reputation for developing strong customer and partner relationships within traditional U.S. military, homeland security and government communities. Prior to Miller’s current position, he served as the vice president of Supply Chain Management for General Dynamics C4 Systems. On January 1, 2015, General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems combined with General Dynamics C4 Systems to form General Dynamics Mission Systems. Before assuming his leadership role in Supply Chain, Miller led Strategic Planning and Business Development for Secure Communications and Computing Technologies for C4 Systems. Among his responsibilities, Miller led strategic planning and business development, and business intelligence for the organization worldwide. Miller was also vice president of Strategic Planning and Business Development for the Battle Management Systems organization within C4 Systems where he led the program capture and business growth strategy for key win programs. Miller joined General Dynamics in 1982 as a Program Material manager. Zinda has over 32 years of experience in aviation, which began as aircraft maintenance specialist in the United States Air Force. He has held leadership positions in aircraft maintenance, manufacturing, flight test, completions, research and development, and sales. Zinda’s previous experience includes a 20-year career in the United States Air Force, from which he retired at the highest enlisted grade of Chief Master Sergeant. He held key positions with Raytheon Aircraft Company and its successor company, Hawker Beechcraft. He began his tenure with Raytheon as a Manager of Production Flight Test for the King Air program. His responsibilities grew to encompass the flight test and completions of all Beechcraft products. Zinda transitioned to the Hawker Beechcraft sales organization where he was responsible for all aspects of customer contact from the first factory visit to aircraft delivery. He was the key leader in the refurbishment of the Hawker Beechcraft Wichita Delivery Center, turning it into a world class facility with defined processes. Nick Newby brings over 20 years of aviation experience to his position at Quest. He is well-versed in the sales, marketing and service aspects of the aviation industry, both domestically and internationally. Newby began his aviation career as an airframe and powerplant mechanic for Columbia Helicopters. In this position, he traveled the western United States, Canada, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia, handling field logistics and maintenance during helicopter logging, firefighting and oil exploration operations. In 1997, Newby joined Cessna Aircraft Company as a Citation mechanic, moving quickly through the ranks to increasingly responsible maintenance and sales positions. He was promoted to the position of Customer Solution Manager, focusing on pre-sales, contracts and delivery responsibilities for the European, Middle East and African markets. Newby then moved to Jeppesen, A Boeing Company, and served as Product Manager of Airway Manual Services, responsible for increasing global revenues while decreasing expenses for the company’s flagship product line. He then transitioned to New Product Development Manager, focusing on the development of products and services to ease the transition for customers moving from paper to electronic navigation products. Jason Eddy joined Quest Aircraft in March 2009 as a Manufacturing Engineer, moving to Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Senior Manager of Engineering and Operations and then Vice President, Engineering and Operations. He assumed his present position in January 2016. Eddy brings solid experience in engineering, lean manufacturing, and process and materials management to the company. Prior to joining Quest, Eddy was with Intel Corporation, the world’s largest semiconductor manufacturer, were he worked first as a Managing Process Engineer and then as Materials Program Manager. While at Intel, he was responsible for overseeing cost-cutting initiatives that saved over $4.8 million annually in manufacturing costs. His experience there included implementing lean manufacturing principles and managing all aspects of a process module in a 24/7, high volume manufacturing environment. As Materials Program Manager, Eddy developed and implemented material plans, oversaw inventories at overseas facilities, and successfully resolved global supply line issues. In addition to manufacturing expertise, Eddy also worked in the educational content industry, initially in a content development role and eventually as Executive Director, responsible for all operations of his business unit. John Jacobson joined Quest in June 2009 as Receiving Inspector in the Quality Department. The following year he assumed the position of Quality Engineer/Systems Quality Assurance, where he worked with key departments to maintain compliance with FAA Regulations and Type Design. He also served as Quest’s Quality Department FAA Liaison and contact with the MIDO office. Jacobson was promoted to Quality Manager, and then to Director of Quality. He currently serves as Vice President, Quality Assurance and is responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of all aspects and day-to-day activities of the company’s FAA-approved Quality System. Jacobson’s responsibilities have included serving as the company’s Quality Representative to external entities such as the FAA, customers and suppliers. He has overseen the successful passing of the FAA bi-annual Quality Systems Audits (QSA) and was responsible for the development and implementation of the processes and procedures regarding Quest’s Quality Assurance program. He is an active participant in Quest’s Product Integrity Team and holds the leading role in internal investigations regarding product issues. Prior to joining Quest, Jacobson spent 30 years with Qwest Communications, Inc. in a variety of positions. Key experience includes overseeing telecommunications infrastructure installation/testing for new construction, trouble-shooting, customer service and managing work crews. He is focused on improved product quality and reliability to meet or exceed customer expectations. Prior to being named Quality vice president, Chris served as the vice president of Pratt & Whitney’s F135/F119 programs where he was responsible for the programs’ development, production and sustainment, along with all field services for those programs including the company’s partnerships at the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center. Before that, Chris served as vice president, manufacturing programs for Pratt & Whitney’s Military Engines business, responsible for program management excellence, and executing industrialization and cost reduction plans for the F135 as well as other military engine programs. Chris joined Pratt & Whitney in 1984 and has held positions of increasing responsibility in Engine Test, Flight Test, Project Engineering, Manufacturing Liaison, and Program Management. He was also the manager of Military Aftermarket Services, where he was responsible for production and strategic growth of all military engines aftermarket activity. He has also served as the F100-PW-229 program manager and guided the development of the initial engine enhancement program for the F100-PW-229 engine powering F-15s and F-16s around the world. Jay DeFrank is Vice President, Communications & Government Relations, at Pratt & Whitney. A member of the P&W Executive Committee, Jay reports to President Bob Leduc. He joined United Technologies Corp. in 2006 as communications director for Chairman and CEO Louis Chênevert, and assumed his current position at Pratt & Whitney in 2008. Before joining UTC, Jay founded a think tank for the Space Foundation in Washington D.C. and directed the foundation’s Washington operations. During 30 years of active duty service in the U.S. Air Force, he directed media relations for the Air Force and later for the Department of Defense, where he was a key architect of the Iraq War news media embed program. He directed all communications for the Air Force in Europe, the Levant and sub-Saharan Africa, and finished his career working for the Secretary of the Air Force, directing the full spectrum of Air Force communications and managing a career field of approximately 5,000 communicators. He served as chairman of the Aerospace Industries Association’s Communications Council in 2012, and was chairman of the steering group for the “Second to None” campaign. DeFrank graduated from Southern Connecticut State University magna cum laude with a degree in journalism.
