Texas Fintech Startups 2026: Austin and Dallas Lead the Boom

Texas fintech had a good first half of 2026. The state pulled in $6.5 billion in venture funding across all sectors in H1, putting the full year on pace for roughly $13.0 billion — a 17% increase over 2025. Nationally, fintech funding specifically surged 23% in H1 2026 as investors concentrated their bets on AI-driven financial infrastructure, and Texas cities are capturing a growing share of that money.

Where the money is going

Houston-based Receipts Depositary Corporation (RDC) closed a $7 million oversubscribed round in June 2026, led by Austin’s LiveOak Ventures with participation from Hivemind Capital, Onigiri Capital, OTC Markets Group, GTS, and Redbeard Ventures. RDC issues depositary receipts to qualified investors on digital and alternative assets, making it easier to buy and trade less-liquid instruments — a good example of the infrastructure-first bets investors are favoring this cycle.

What’s driving the growth

Two forces are compounding: Texas’s broader venture ecosystem is growing faster than the national average, and fintech investors nationally are rotating back toward the sector after a slower 2024-2025, with AI-enabled financial infrastructure as the preferred entry point. That combination is why Texas fintech in 2026 looks less like a single-city story and more like a statewide one, with Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio each building a distinct niche.
